I run into two issues. 1. the update server is not starting. says **** You need to update patches for this utility to be fully enabled ***** network initialized OK loaded server dll OK ... status thread started Server could not be started!! Status - not running, no network xbox is networked fine when booted normally. 2. I cannot get the XPGUpdater.exe to startup on my Win 7 Machine. Nothing happening on starting it. thanks a bunch for any advice.
Im afraid that kernal is a bit too old to update with this method, you will have to update to a more recent kernal to use this tool. This will probably only work on kernals 16***+, the link for the manual update is available on the support page. 1. Try booting into your dashboard normally and then run the updsvr, there is always the option to try updsvr v3 or the updserv option in Dashlaunch itself. 2. Are you running the latest net framework? also try running as administrator.

It worked. I thought it wasnt doing anything at first so I exited the updsvr and the xbox gave me an error. I thought I screwed it up. I was able to go back in and load updsvr and I left it alone for a few minutes. The program gave me an error like it didnt update but when I looked at the xbox it did successfully update. Thank you. issues 2. was solved with .NET frame work upgrade. on issue 1. I still get a bad status server not up. I checked my dash launch to see if i can start the update server from inthere but the option is not there yet. I am on Dash Launch V3.04 Kernel 2.0.16197.0 I tried starting upupdate server v3. This seems to work fine it gives a server started OK status. What are exactly the issues to expect when using the v3 update server for the upgrade process? Why did you guys not bundle it with your upgrader? It seems to fix several issues according to the version history. thanks.
Try Updsvr v3, the reason it was not bundled with this software as it was corrupting dashlaunch on the new flash, We have since had a release of the new dashlaunch v3.14 so if DL does not install properly with updsvr v3 you should be able to install DL manually. Did not brick any consoles but at the point the first version of this was released we had no compatible dashlaunch. 16197 may be a little old to use this method, im sure the first kernal that the updsvr was released was 16203.
