Don't know if you still don't know the answer but no...You can flash the nand with a new kv to unban a console, to update the kernel on a jtag without burning fuses also. If you ever use an xex that effs your jtag up you can flash a backup nand to restore your console so it also works again. The list can keep going on though..just a few things you can use it for.
