Microsoft announced today that it will release the famed Long Beach circuit for Xbox One racing game Forza Motorsport 5 as free DLC on April 10. The new track will be added to the game via the latest Forza Motorsport 5 content update.

The Long Beach circuit, set in southern California, features tight turns and long straightaways. Its inclusion in Forza Motorsport 5 marks the first time the circuit has ever appeared in a Forza title.

Microsoft is promising a high degree of authenticity for the virtual depiction of the Long Beach circuit. The company boasts in a post on the Xbox Wire that it has recreated the course and its surrounding area with "obsessive precision" by laser scanning and poring over thousands of photos and hours of video.

"From the angles of each unique palm tree along Shoreline Drive to every nuance of the track's surface, this circuit is a racing experience unlike any other," Microsoft says.

The full 11-turn, 1.97-mile course is included, as well as the slightly shorter East Loop and the half-mile West Loop. Microsoft adds that the Long Beach circuit will be "fully integrated" with every Forza 5 game mode

Though the Long Beach circuit itself is free for all Forza 5 players, Microsoft will also offer a "Long Beach Booster Pack" featuring five cars to add to your garage: the 1977 Ford Coyote Gilmore77, the 1974 Lancia Stratos HF Stradale, the 1956 Jaguar D-Type, the 1998 Mercedes-Benz AMG Mercedes CLK GTR, and the 1971 Ferrari #2 Ferrari Automobili 312 P.

Forza 5 Car Pass owners can download the car pack for free, though Microsoft did not say how much it will cost as a standalone download. We have reached out to Microsoft for comment.
