Since time began, mankind's software engineers have operated according to one, unwritten Law: thou shalt not update a videogame or console without causing at least one additional problem in the process. So it has proved with this weekend's Xbox One update, which is reportedly inflicting black screens on a number of downloaders. Those affected will find that the black screen persists even after restarting the console. The solution, thankfully, appears to be simple: hold the power button for 10 seconds to switch the Xbox One off, then unplug it for five minutes or so. It's kind of like telling an excitable child to go "cool off". (DISCLAIMER: OXM does not recommend that you think of your console as an excitable child.) Tweet: GamerDan @DCJchevalier @XboxSupport was on titanfall beta when it just went black. Tried turning off and then back on and it still there. Tweet: Xbox Support (1-5) @XboxSupport @DCJchevalier Let's try holding the power button for 10 sec & unplug the console for 5 min. ^SB A few other users have reported problems with Kinect and game crashing. Thankfully, the same fix seems to work for them too. Let me know how you get on with it - I'll keep you abreast of developments. Source - OXM
