For us, the future comes in the form of Xbox One, a system designed to be the best place to play games this year and for many years to come. Since unveiling our plans for Xbox One, my team and I have heard directly from many of you, read your comments and listened to your feedback. I would like to take the opportunity today to thank you for your assistance in helping us to reshape the future of Xbox One. You told us how much you loved the flexibility you have today with games delivered on disc. The ability to lend, share, and resell these games at your discretion is of incredible importance to you. Also important to you is the freedom to play offline, for any length of time, anywhere in the world. So, today I am announcing the following changes to Xbox One and how you can play, share, lend, and resell your games exactly as you do today on Xbox 360. Here is what that means: An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games – After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360. Trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do today – There will be no limitations to using and sharing games, it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360. In addition to buying a disc from a retailer, you can also download games from Xbox Live on day of release. If you choose to download your games, you will be able to play them offline just like you do today. Xbox One games will be playable on any Xbox One console -- there will be no regional restrictions. These changes will impact some of the scenarios we previously announced for Xbox One. The sharing of games will work as it does today, you will simply share the disc. Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold. Also, similar to today, playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray. We appreciate your passion, support and willingness to challenge the assumptions of digital licensing and connectivity. While we believe that the majority of people will play games online and access the cloud for both games and entertainment, we will give consumers the choice of both physical and digital content. Our team remains committed to listening, taking feedback and delivering a great product for you later this year." - Don Mattrick, President, Interactive Entertainment Business, Microsoft Update 1.0 (20th June 2013) Xbox One now confirmed to be Region Free + a few other changes to policies and what not but who cares : ) : ( No self - developing policy means no indie games, this included the possible DayZ console port, oddworld and Fez 2 plus a few more Update 1.1 (21st June 2013) If your going to pre-order a PS4 (and your in Australia), order it off Amazon or Kogan, will be loads cheaper : ) Update 1.2 (25th June 2013) MS looking to invest over 700 million $ in the cloud service for XBL, and supposedly they are going to change their mind over the self publishing policy, this will be positive towards indie developers (Dayz, oddworld etc)

I am such a cheap ass it is unbelievable. I love the Xbox but since they have announced what they first announced I didn't like that. But now after these changes I am tempted to go back. I really like both systems but I always preferred playing one over the other and for the past many many years it has been Xbox, but I can get free games. And with the Xbox 360 I was spoiled to the bone, haven't paid for a game in years. I hope Xbox becomes moddable in the future because has always been my Daddy and PS3 was second in the spotlight. In other words I go where the free games take me.
and how long did it take to listen.... f**KING people people asked questions you miss directed it this an attempt to get the money they would be losing why didnt they do this in the first place and not be a damn Floppy Dangler Of Doom about it lol ( well if you dont have a good internet or you dont have internet buy a xbox 360) how is that helping you buy the xbox one lol the only other thing the didnt say anything about that "the people" were asking about the kinect always having to be plugged in since the drm was lifted i might get it the only get that looks good to me is dead rising 3 as of right now and for the ps4 kingdom heart 3 and final fantasy 15

This is something that could've been easily addressed but they refuse abs only kept giving mixed details about their service and even avoiding directly answering any of our questions and concerns. The specs are really not that different, won't see much performance changes..sometimes newer video cards run worser than older ones. You won't ever need so much RAM on a PS4 cause it doesn't have much intense features unlike the One.
