Star Wars: Force Unleashed 2 co-developer Red Fly Studio once worked on a Star Wars game featuring Darth Maul, the nobbly-headed Sith Lord from the Phantom Menace movie. There's a video, passed on by Eurogamer, which shows Mr Maul mauling a man who looks suspiciously like Boba Fett. Have a gander.

As reported by GameInformer, the game was supposedly in development for eight months, beginning in late 2010, and was originally a Nintendo exclusive. Slated for release on Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Wii U, it was abandoned after franchise creator George Lucas asked for the game to be changed into a "buddy cop-like experience", also featuring Darth Talon - a saucily attired lady Sith from the wider universe. LucasArts subsequently cut off all contact with the developer.

The perspective, physics and mix of hand-to-hand combat and Force powers should be familiar to Force Unleashed players. Did Uncle George make the right call?

Disney closed LucasArts last year. Battlefield publisher EA now has the exclusive rights to develop games based on the Star Wars license - there are projects underway at Visceral, BioWare and DICE, among other studios. It's all Hans on deck over there, I expect.
