Hey guys i was wondering if i can update my modded xbox to the latest version, and if its safe or not ? and will it flash my drive back to stock ? i bought this xbox like 3 months ago and as far as i know its flashed to LT 3.0 its a xbox360 slim 4gb some other information : 1- dashboard : v2.0.14719.0 2- and everytime i try to update it through xbox live it gives me this error code : " Can't process the update. if the problem persists, go to www.xbox.com/suppourt. Status code: 397F - 3F4B - 1781 - 0300 - C800 - 0036" And the thing is that i have the 2.0.16197.0 firmware that i want to update to on my flash memory but im hesitant to do it because i dont know if it will flash back to stock :/ any help is appreciated ...
It's a shame, because you have 1 post, no one is willing to help you. It's basically how this site is.. If I could relay some help, I would, but I simply don't know enough about the subject. My understanding is, always flash back to stock first, before flashing it with your current firmware. Good luck with it!

go to settings then select storage highlight hdd or internal mem. on the controller press the following press left bumper rpress right bumper press x press the left bumper press the right bumper press x turn of the console and back on again and try the update if that don't work re do the above and try the usb update
You should be fine to update without anything happening to your drive. You could try to download the update from xbox.com and update via USB if you continue to get that error. It is not the fact that nobody wants to help him because he has 1 post. Possibly the people best suited to answer his question could be offline or did not see the topic.
Update version 13146 is only one that actually updates the DVD drives firmware 397f = 14719 current dash version 3f4b = 16203 is the update it is looking for to properly update ??Is your console banned?? Try updating it with a different update OFFLINE
Thx alot guys hopefully i'll learn more about this site as i develop my xbox modding skills If memory serves correct i think that my friend already told me about this but i have not tried it yet thx alot i've seen it now and the system update that i've just downloaded is "systemupdate_16203_USB.zip" and i think its the v2.0.16203.0 so does it change anything ? anyway thx alot for your help, much appreciated ^^ to be honest i didn't understand the "397f" and the "3f4b" part. no its not banned its a brand new xbox that i bought like 3 months ago and already modded I will try it thx alot
397f is hex for 14719 which says what your current dash version is 3f4b is hex for 16203 is the update it is looking for to properly update, so download a MS update 16203 and update it off USB or a game that has 16203 which is probably every new game out since that update came out From your code error Status code: 397F - 3F4B - 1781 - 0300 - C800 - 0036 This clears your cache. But code C800 usually means the console is BAN that's why it will not update on LIVE http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/system-updates/software-update-errors
aha thx for explaining =) no its not banned its new and since i bought it till now i was unable to go to live because of this update thing and i didn't receive anything about any ban. and how do i know if my xbox is banned ? In spite of this, can i play on live after updating ? or would i get banned ?
I've tried everything... i copied it to a memory stick and there was no response in the xbox :S i've tried again through xbox live and i had the same error as before.... and now i tried this :- it deleted all my system data and now im stuck with no avatars and i cant play kinect.... is there any way to reverse what i've just done? ;(
Look in system settings and find your current kernel version. Once you find that you need to download a matching version update, so if you have kernel version #14719, you need to download kernel version 14719 MS update to fix your avatar and kinect issue. To run the update you need to have the update on USB then restart the console. You will not be able to update it online because your console is banned
i did all of that and i've read it of 6 websites including xbox.com/suppourt and everytime i put the usb in the xbox the update does not prompt :S... hmmmm... seems like it was already banned when i bought it from the shop.... understood, i will try these stuff today and we'll see the results thx again for your help, much appreciated
If you can't update through USB nor can you through the Xbox, odds are it's banned. 16203 is the newest supported version. There's a beta version out but I'm not sure JRunner or 360 Flash Tool support it yet. You can flash your modded console with 16203 using JRunner or 360 Flash Tool. i've done it !! it works perfect now and it was actually banned as everyone said :/ anyhow thank you all for your kind help, couldn't have done it without you again thx alot guys much appreciated ^^
Sorry to hear it is banned, if you just purchased it from a shop they should have informed you that the console was banned upfront, or at least give you a discount for purchasing a ban console.
If I were you, and if you still can, I'd get your money back from the person that sold you a banned xbox.
