Remember the Titanfall branded Xbox One that appeared as part of a “leaked” bundle recently? Yeah well there’s good news and bad news. After the subsequent announcement of the real Titanfall bundle, which doesn’t feature a branded console (or controller), many thought that the image was faked. But the console is real and it’s dead sexy. That’s the good news. The bad news is that you can’t have one. Overnight various Respawn employees have been tweeting pictures of the console, which unfortunately is for the development team only. Indeed the model is called ‘Titanfall Dev Team Xbox One.’ The official Respawn Twitter account accompanied one of the images with the words, “Almost hate to post this cause they aren’t for sale but @Xbox bought our studio something amazing today.” So it looks like the Titanfall console isn’t coming to retail. As an aside, when we were at Lionhead a few weeks ago, Fable franchise manager Ted Timmins showed off the company’s branded Fable consoles. They’ve had one made for every single game in the series. But despite the fact that there’s a market for them, the vast majority never come to retail because they cost so much to make. In many cases, customised consoles like this require so much work that they're prohibitively expensive to sell. Whether that’s true of the Titanfall Xbox One we don’t know, but it’s worth bearing in mind when you’re shouting “BUT I WANT ONE” at your monitor like I did. Titanfall arrives on Xbox One on March 11th in North America and March 14th in Europe and Australia. The Xbox 360 version comes a couple of weeks later, on March 25th in North America and March 28th in Europe and Australia. Source - X360A
