CD Projekt RED has reversed course, thankfully.

This time last year, CD Projekt RED seemed all but done with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, having released the Game of the Year Edition and being well into development on Cyberpunk 2077 and Gwent. They even went so far as to declare that they would not release a 4K patch. While development on the latter is still in full swing, CD Projekt RED has apparently found the resources to work on a 4K update for the game on both PS4 Pro and Xbox One.

During their First Half of 2017 presentation, President Adam Kicinski said that "a 4K version" of the game would be coming "in a few days" for PS4 Pro and "by the end of the year" on Xbox One. Eurogamer later reported that the company seemed to have gotten ahead of themselves a bit, as senior PR manager Radek Adam Grabowski reversed course saying that the patches would be announced "when the right time comes."

The safe bet would seem to be to expect both by the end of 2017, as they may look to release both simultaneously and avoid any unfortunate platform politics.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
