LOL, thanks for asking some of the questions I had wayne. Alright, so I am messing with Rainbow 6 Vegas 1 since I had the game and someone had a req for it. I have in artmoney 9 addresses. The first 4 are: 09548A90 - R. Interger 4 bytes 09548A91 - R. Interger 3 bytes 09548A92 - R. Interger 2 bytes 09548A93 - Interger 1 byte Putting in 0xC9548A90 8 bytes in PeekPoker I see my ammo for current gun at 03 or (4th set) If I change that to say FF and poke it my ammo goes to 255 on screen and I can shoot like crazy. I know this is a dynamic address cause it changes if I restart later so I figure I need to set a breakpoint to get to actual address but no matter what address I try I can't get the game to break. In VS I've tried 0x09548A90 thru 93. I've tried with changing the 09 to C9 and I've tried by adding the BFDD0000 to the address and nothing will break. Am I on the right track or completely wrong?
Renegade, I tried your suggestion but I still can't get it to break in VS. I can find the offset within 2-3 dumps and they change on screen and in game when I poke them but I cannot for the life of me get it to break in VS so I can find the address to nop. Thanks for giving advice and if you can think of anything else it will be welcomed and appreciated.
ran across a problem with code caving inf health and ammo are controlled by the same breakpoint for player/AI so how do i separate them to work just for the player i also found that r9 controls the players health and ammo not sure if its the same for the AI
i thought i ad found the offset for splinter cell conviction infinite execute tu0 any way i set the brake point press play ok when i got the execute in game the game showed blue bars going across the screen then it shut my console down any one *** across the before thanks
So, player and AI have infinite health? and you are sure it's the exact same function? Because I don't see an ammo function stored as a float.. I mean sure sometimes it can happen with some games. But the majority of them are never float. You'll have to compare the registers properly. Code caving is not a simple task for beginners. You're best to get a hold of Bioshock 2 and use that game to study the guide. It'll help you understand the caving properly.
