Spotify will bring its music streaming app to Xbox One consoles soon, reports Polygon’s sister site The Verge. The app was uncovered by a vigilant Reddit user who noticed Xbox Live director of programming Larry Hryb, A.K.A. Major Nelson, using “Spotify Music — for Xbox.” For over two years, the only way to use Spotify on game consoles was through PlayStation 3 and 4. That app replaced Sony’s Music Unlimited service, and Sony reps stated at the time that Spotify was an “exclusive partner” of PlayStation. Now, The Verge’s sources have confirmed that the app is being tested internally at Microsoft. Microsoft also released a desktop app for Spotify through the Windows Store in June. The Windows app is practically the same as the app obtainable through Spotify’s website, with added support for updates through the Windows Store. There’s no word yet on an official release window for the Xbox One Spotify app, but you can probably expect the ability listen to all your Discovery Weekly playlists and Daily Mixes on Xbox soon.
