    So what is quantum dot?

A quantum-dot gaming display is a new type of LED-backlit display. Images are created just like they are on an LCD screen, but quantum-dot technology serves to enhance the colour and overall detail. It increases brightness, has better colour accuracy and achieves a truer, higher colour saturation in displays, designed to make your viewing - and gaming - experience more vivid and real. Samsung and several other manufacturers are already using quantum dot technology in televisions, but Samsung is the first to bring it into the gaming world.

    The CFG70's benefits

The CFG70, available in 24 and 27 inch models, promises to reproduce accurate colors across a 125% sRGB spectrum. It has a 3000:1 contrast ratio, guaranteed to make those true, dark blacks and create a true luminance designed to amplify previously hidden gaming details. Samsung's Eye Saver mode, through the use Flicker Free technology, eliminates blue light, which means no more sleepless nights as a result of your late night gaming.

Samsung claims this is the first curved monitor offering a 1ms response time, thanks to new motion blur reduction technology, and the use of AMD FreeSync technology will minimise screen tearing and any input lag, ensuring the screen refresh rate and the game's frame rate is synced up. With a rapid MPRT rate promising to reduce display transitions between moving and animated objects, users should find themselves experiencing less visual distractions while immersed in the gaming world.

All of this is sure to create a much more immersive, real life gaming experience, a truly cutting edge addition to a competitive market for professional gamers.

    Any drawbacks?

What may be a drawback to some is these are only 1,080 pixel displays. While 1,900 x 1,080 pixels is certainly still attractive, it's no longer as cutting edge as it once was. Most gamers will likely want something bigger and more impressive, such as a 1,440 pixel display or 4K technology, but unfortunately neither of these are on offer at the moment.

Gamers should think seriously about what they will use the display for. With such an immersive gaming experience promised, the best way to show off these devices is through fast-paced, detailed games like first-person shooting, rather than the likes of FIFA 17.

    The monitor

The monitor itself stands on a dual-hinge arm. This means you can adjust the swivel, height, pivot and tilt to your requirements. The devise also features one DisplayPort and two HDMI ports. It also employs an environmentally-safe, cadmium-free design and features industry-leading 1,800R curvature and a 178-degree ultra-wide viewing angle, working to match the natural curve of the human eye.

The Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP) has recently named the CFG70 as a recipient of a Good Design Award, which honours technologies improving quality of life, industry and society. The JDP acknowledges the CFG70’s advanced gaming interface and ground breaking use of technology. With no confirmed prices as of yet, serious gamers will be looking at this display with a keen eye.
