(Im pretty sure this isn't in the right spot)

    Hi all,

I need to reflow my XBox, and I would like to know if anyone could point me in the direction of a tutorial that shows how to remove those annoying X clamps, also, (I already know how to reflow) but I am unsure of the solder that Microsoft likes to use (dodgy b*stards they are an' all), what temperature should I be heating the chip to (I am using an infrared thermometer to determine the current temp of the chip) I know regular (50/50 lead based) solder goes gooey at 183 degC and melts at about 216 degC, however, I am concerned by the RoHS logo on the XBox, as they wont be using lead based solder, so i have no idea what temperature I should be heating it to.

Could anyone help me out please?

    Thanks,
    Syko

There is a tutorial on here somewhere where i listed the melting points of the solder.

In order to remove the clamps i just use a really wide headed flat edge screwdriver slide into the bottom of the feet on the clamps and twist until they pop off, ( i ll take a pic for you )

yeh like Bullet said use a good slim screwdriver and pop the corners off just on the inside.

Micorsoft use Lead free solder balls on the chips. If you dont want to risk damaging the mobo by removing clamps with a screwdriver, then keep an eye out for this:

    http://www.xpgamesaves.com/topic/38522-xecuter-unlock-kit-v3/

It is a full unlock kit for slims and phats and has an X-clamp removal tool.
