The PS4 isn't without its problems as we all know, however Sony have made the PS4 really easy to dismantle and fix. Thanks to ifixit doing a teardown on the Playstation 4 we can now see how easy it is to take apart and repair the next gen console.. Here's what you need: T9 Torx Security Screwdriver Buy it Phillips #0 Screwdriver Buy it Phillips #1 Screwdriver Buy it Tweezers So lets take a look at how easy it is to take apart the PS4. Step 1 : Slide the shiny top away from the console and lift off. Step 2: Remove the Hard drive and caddy from the console. Now would be a good time to swap out that 500gb HDD for a nice solid state drive and speed up load times of installed games. Step 3: Now is where the screwdrivers come into play. First remove the T9 Security Torx screws which will allow access to the rest of the console. Step 4: Once all screws are removed , you can remove the power supply. Step 5: You now have access to remove the Blue Ray player. If it were me, I wouldnt even put it back again lol Step 6: To get to the all important motherboard and fan you will need to remove the top panels first. Step 7: Remove the metal heat shields and you are almost there. Step 8: Once you flip out the motherboard you will have access to the fan! iFixit endured an injury in the quest for knowledge here in the form or a cut finger, so be aware the heat shield is very sharp. Step 9: At last we have our hands on that infernal fan! The PS4 certainly does look a lot easier to disassemble than the PS3. A massive thanks to the guys over at ifixit for the images.
