PS3 + PS4 Mandatory Updates 4.60 and 1.72 Roll Out Today

    Sony have rolled out firmware updates for both the PS3 (4.60) and PS4 (1.72) today which are said to improve system software stability during the use of some features on the consoles.

    We do know that the PS3 V4.60 update has prevented the use of optical drive emulators (ODE), we also have a changelog which you can see below:


    Closed captions are now supported for playback of Blu-ray Disc titles and DVDs. To display closed captions, select [Settings] > [Video Settings] > [Closed Captions].
    The style used for closed captions, such as the font, size and color, can now be adjusted. Select [Settings] > [Video Settings] > [Closed Captions Settings].

    Both firmware updates are now available for download via the PlayStation Network and as this is a mandatory update it will be automatically downloaded if your console is connected to the Internet.
