PlayStation 4 is still outselling Xbox One in North America, but the gap appears to be closing. According to NPD, January's PlayStation 4 sales were almost double those of Xbox One in North America. In February, however, NPD reports that PS4 sales are only higher by “a narrow margin.” And thanks to Xbox One's larger price tag, the console lead sales last month, in terms of revenue. "PS4 led hardware sales in February 2014, but by a narrow margin with Xbox One selling over 90 percent of what the PS4 sold in terms of unit sales," reads the NPD report. "However, with Xbox One's higher price point, it led hardware sales on a dollar basis." In terms of money flowing into the industry, it was a bit of a mixed bag. While total spend is up 9% year-on-year from $810m to $887m, software sales are down 9 per cent year-on-year. Compared to January’s software sales, however, February was a great month, with total sales rising from $232m to $318m.
