We are a couple of months away to get our hands on the powerful Xbox One X. And while we wait, Microsoft releases more information about its new toy.

According to Mike Ybarra corporate vice president, Microsoft is working to achieve the HDMI 2.1 certification. He gave the confirmation on twitter while answering a fan’s question about the matter.

Microsoft already possess the HDMI 2.0 certification. The new one will allow the console to reach resolutions of 7680 x 4320 for 8k with 60Hz or 3840 x 2160 for 4K at 120 Hz. The bandwidth will also increase from 18 Gbits per second to 48 Gbits per second.

The company hopes to get the certification before the end of the developing process of the console. It is good news for people that possess a 4K TV. Considering that it will support resolutions up to 8K, it seems the format will be on the market for a long time.

The Xbox One X will be released on November 7th for the suggested retail price of $499.
