Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes sold three times as many units on PlayStation 4 than on Xbox One, Konami has revealed. While specific figures were not provided by the Tokyo based company, it stated that, for the financial period between April and June, the PS4 accounted for 12 per cent of its software sales, while Xbox One contributed four per cent. For the period, Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes was the only PS4 and Xbox One game available from Konami. MGS5: Ground Zeroes made its debut in March, meaning that a significant amount of sales would have acclimated before April-June quarter. But in this case, the PS4 edition of the game still outsold the Xbox One edition. During the January-March quarter, PS4 made up eight per cent of of Konami's total software sales, while the Xbox One made up three per cent. In April, Konami announced Ground Zeroes shipped one million copies since it release. The figure accounted for retail units shipped worldwide, and did not include digital sales across PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Although it began life on the MSX, the Metal Gear Solid series is traditionally considered a PlayStation franchise. The legacy of the series on Sony consoles, as well as its appeal in Japan, could be a contributing factor to its popularity on PS4. Source CVG
