Do you have blinking lights on the computer (power or reset)? My old laptop had a preset number of blinks to indicate the possible problem

I know my desktop runs its fans on full speed for the boot menu part and then slows after it gets to the windows loading screen, is your fan completely off or running really slow?
Could always be a fried GPU. And I think someone asked before but do any lights turn on at all?

    Some questions :)3):
    How old is your laptop?
Is your computer making any noise or getting warm at all after the you can hear the fan anymore?
Have you tried plugging another monitor into it the DVI or whatever video port you have?

It's not that old, the fan turns on and then turns off after a little about 5 secs

Have you tried taking out some of the parts then putting them back in again? Could also try to reset the CMOS chip.

if you can try putting the laptop through the tv using hdmi or vga to vga on tv or monitor. if the laptop comes on then its the screen thats gone but with u saying the fans shuts off after about 5secs it could be the GPU thats gone which will cost you a fair bit to fix.
12 years experiance in fixing laptops and pc's as its the buisness i run.
