Konami have let slip that they’re working on another entry into the Silent Hill series, with an as yet un-named developer. The last Silent Hill game to grace the Xbox 360 was Silent Hill: Homecoming, was met with pretty poor reviews all round – averaging around 70% on Metacritic. The franchise has suffered in recent years, with a series of duff remakes across a number of different platforms since the first game debuted back in 1999 – which also received a fair-to-middling movie adaption in 2006. With Survival Horror games in general seemingly light on scares and innovative gameplay these days (bar EA’s excellent Dead Space), we’re feeling slightly pessimistic that this announcement will breathe new life into the genre – but the fact that Konami is keeping its cards close to its chest at this point has done enough to spark our interest at this point.
