This is a tutorial to show you how to correctly use the 'External HDD Tool' created by Angerwound. This app will allow you to change the MBR ( Master Boot Record ) on your Xbox formatted storage device so that your Windows PC can read it. Its a simple to use app, however since a few people have been having issues I figured I would create a quick tutorial: You will need to download Xbox One External HDD Tool Make sure you have connected your device to the Xbox and formatted it before using this app! Assuming you have done this and have some files on the storage device lets continue. Now run the tool as administrator by right clicking on the app. Open the Xbox One Drive Convertor and click on 'Scan' All being well you will now see your device listed in the application. Now right click on the 'Mode' tab and select 'PC Mode' Now click on 'Scan' again and this will put your storage device into 'PC Mode' Now simply disconnect and reconnect your external storage device from your Windows machine. You should now be able to see the files saved to the external storage device and this allows you to remove or add files to the device. Go to your computer and look for the external device: Open the device on your Windows machine and you will be able to see the saved files on that device: You can now extract these files from the device to your computer! Remember to switch your device back to 'Xbox Mode' before putting the drive back in your Xbox One otherwise the Xbox will format the drive again and you will loose any saved content stored on the device. Warning: This application scans and makes modifications to the MBR of the drive. Angerwound takes no responsibility for any damage done to the device or loss of data caused by utilizing this application. This has been tested on only a handful of drives; so there could be issues. Use at your own risk. Download: UnHidden Content: Click here to download
I will be releasing a new version of the application in the coming days. 1) Ability for multiple partitions on a single drive. 2) USB 2.0 Drive capability. (And recognizable by the XBOX One) 3) Full formatting of drive from the application without having to do so on the console. Also, people without the preview update will be able to take advantage of External Storage.
