After huge amount of research finally i am able to bring life (sound) to phantom pain. YES THE SOUND WILL WORK!!! Hardware Needed: Xbox 360 (RGH/Jtag only) USB External HDD/Pendrive with more than 10 GB free space. Software Needed: Xbox Image Browser (For windows) or X360 Iso Hacker (For mac) -- For extract game ISO. MGSV QAR Tool (Made by Sergeanur) -- For extract and joining qar/dat file. Download from here. Horizon (For windows user) or Velocity (For mac user) -- For extracting content file. Notepad or any text editor Custom foxfs.dat -- Download from here *Your dashboard version should be 2.0.16537 or above to work MGSV Phantom Pain. Step 1 : Download the game from xb**3**i opps!! i don't know where and it should be 2 DVDs. If you download the iso version then use Xbox Image Browser (For windows) or X360 Iso Hacker (For mac) to extract the iso. DVD 1 should be install disk and DVD 2 should be play disk. Step 2 : We deal with DVD 1 first. Ok, if you extract iso correctly you should have those files and folders : Some of the file from DVD 1 is useless. So delete them. Delete master folder, AvatarAssetPack, Default.xex, nxeart. Only keep the content folder. Step 3 : Ok, now we extract the 4 file (4B4E085E0F0000A1, 4B4E085E0F0000A2, 4B4E085E0F0000A3, 4B4E085E0F0000A4) from DVD 1 content/0000000000000000/4B4E085E/00000002 folder using Horizon or whatever you wish. From 4B4E085E0F0000A1 we are getting 2 file (77e6d53969026de.dat, 77fe67b0ff6b88a.dat) and a folder named master. We dont need master folder so delete it. 4B4E085E0F0000A2 has only 1 file (77d720e8d8714bc.dat) and master folder. Delete master folder. 4B4E085E0F0000A3 also has 1 file (77e669ec815e58f.dat) and master folder. Delete master folder. Now 4B4E085E0F0000A4 has only a master folder. But inside the master folder you will get 2 folder named "1f8a" and "ef". Delete the ef folder. We dont need this because those are only for multiplayer (Metal gear online). You also get 2 files inside that master folder. dummy.txt and foxfs.dat. Delete the dummy.txt. Now you either use this foxfs.dat or use the one i am upload. they are same. Now we have those files/folder left from extracted content Step 4 : Now open DVD 2 (Play disk) folder. If we extract DVD 2 iso correctly, we should have those files/folders Now move 1f8a folder and foxfs.dat file from DVD 1 extracted content to DVD 2/master folder and overwrite foxfs.dat. Also move those 4 files (77d720e8d8714bc.dat, 77e6d53969026de.dat, 77e669ec815e58f.dat, 77fe67b0ff6b88a.dat) from DVD 1 extracted content to DVD 2/master/ef folder and overwrite them. If we are doing everything right, we dont need DVD 1 anymore. At this point game should run from an external hdd but no sound of course. But without sound this game is unplayable. So we must find a way to work sound. Step 5 : All we have to do is merge 77fe67b0ff6b88a.dat and 77e669ec815e58f.dat from DVD 2/master/ef folder. We have to use MGSV QAR Tool for merge them. So download MGSV_QAR_Tool.rar and extract it Inside "DVD 2/master/ef" folder and delete "dictionary.txt". We dont need it. Step 6 : Open command prompt (cmd) and enter ef folder like this : cd c:\master\ef Your location should be different. Now we unpack 77fe67b0ff6b88a.dat first. So give the command : MGSV_QAR_Tool.exe 77fe67b0ff6b88a.dat -u -r -e2 Your 77fe67b0ff6b88a.dat file location should be different. If you done correctly this will create a folder named 77fe67b0ff6b88a and a file 77fe67b0ff6b88a.inf. Now unpack 77e669ec815e58f.dat same way. So our ef folder should look like this : Step 6 : Now move all files from 77e669ec815e58f folder to 77fe67b0ff6b88a folder. Open 77e669ec815e58f.inf and delete "QARversion=24" (1st line). And replace all 77e669ec815e58f to 77fe67b0ff6b88a like this : Now copy everything from 77e669ec815e58f.inf and paste it to 77fe67b0ff6b88a.inf file. Now you can delete 77e669ec815e58f.inf, 77e669ec815e58f folder and 77e669ec815e58f.dat file too. Step 7 : In the last step we repack 77fe67b0ff6b88a.dat. To do so give the command : MSGV_QAR_Tool.exe 77fe67b0ff6b88a.inf -u -r -e2 This will repack and overwrite 77fe67b0ff6b88a.dat. Ok, now delete 77fe67b0ff6b88a.inf and 77fe67b0ff6b88a folder. Now copy DVD 2 to an external hdd or pendrive and launch default.xex. Have FUN.
Finally it's done. Thank you guys for your hard work. Even if it looks complicated i guess no other choise but to try it ;D Edit: I've done everything as you described but in the end got fatal crash :/
as for the extraction you can simply drag n drop the file into the program and it should automatically extract it for you. To rebuild it do the same just this time use .inf file... But then again i did as the tutorial said but still got fatal crash when launching the game :/
You should not drag and drop. For console version u should use at least -u -e2. See the readme file from MGSV QAR Tool. By any chance do u using windows xp? In windows xp i have problem rebuilding .dat file.
I'm using windows 10. As for the drag n drop, if i open the program it just writes some things and then proceeds to "press any button to continue" and closes so i have no idea how to write the command line :/
First open command prompt. You can open command prompt for many ways. Easy way is press Winkey+R and type cmd then press enter.
i don't understand how to do it. I open cmd and type " cd D:\MGS\master\ef" (my location of ef folder),press enter. what should i do next? if i type this "MGSV_QAR_Tool.exe 77fe67b0ff6b88a.dat -u -r -e2" in cmd - nothing happens. just message - MGSV_QAR_Tool.exe is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. sorry fo my english
I've managed to extract the files,then copy all the files from one folder to another and moved changed lines from .inf file as well but now for some reason when i try to rebuild it i get the same 37mb file :/ Maybe i copied 77e669ec815e58f.inf file wrong. So just to be clear after changing the 77e669ec815e58f to 77fe67b0ff6b88a you copy all the lines into the 77fe67b0ff6b88a.inf but i copied the line after the original 77fe67b0ff6b88a lines, so maybe i should have copied them before? (i mean after QARversion=24 line in 77fe67b0ff6b88a) In your case you should type D:\MGS\master\ef\MGSV_QAR_Tool.exe 77fe67b0ff6b88a.dat -u -r -e2 and it should work.

Amazing tutorial! Thanks for the hardwork! I'm only having trouble with the last part, I type the command "MGSV_QAR_Tool.exe 77fe67b0ff6b88a.inf -u -r -e2", and it repacks the file with .g0s extension instead of .dat, which gives me a crash when I start the game. Does anyone know how to fix that? EDIT: As expected, I screwed up haha. Turns out I was overwriting the whole content of the .inf file instead of concatenating them. Anyway, again, thanks a LOT for this! I've been trying to play this game since launch, and now thanks to you we can all have fun with it. You are amazing, man! Thanks!
I made a batch file for you(who have problem using qar tool). Download join.bat from here : http://www.mediafire.com/download/8a7cagny1hyam0n/join.bat Make sure qar tool, 77fe67b0ff6b88a.dat, 77e669ec815e58f.dat and join.bat are in the same folder. Then just run join.bat. That will make a new 77fe67b0ff6b88a.dat over 1gb
