A new Hero joins the fight! Overwatch Hero number 27 has officially been announced, and she is an awesome Paladin-like character named Brigitte Lindholm. (Pronounced: Bri - Ghee - Tuh) Who is she? (skip this part if you’re not into lore) Before we get to her abilities, first some backstory. Brigitte is the daughter of Torbjorn, the pint-sized turret mechanic and Overwatch’s master weaponsmith. Brigitte first appeared in the Overwatch animated short “Honor and Glory”. As the legend goes, Brigitte grew up in Torb’s workshop and was constantly surrounded by members of the Overwatch team as she watched her father work. She wanted to be like her father Torb in every way, especially when it came to his bond with Reinhardt (the honorable yet badass shield tank). Torb was in charge of designing and repairing Reinhardt’s armor, and Brigitte -- after she grew up and the Overwatch team disbanded -- did the same for Reinhardt as his squire. She serviced Rein’s armor and weapons, and also learned to fight and protect just like him. This explains why her abilities, weapon, and shield are so much like Reinhardt's. But Brigitte always wanted to do more. She wanted to fight alongside Rein and the others. And now she has her chance! View: https://youtu.be/K_m8fcJb5tE Abilities Brigitte is technically a “support” Hero, but she also has some “tank” abilities. She really reminds me of a Paladin-type character. She has been given the lowest difficulty ranking, meaning any player can easily jump right in a start having fun with her. ROCKET FLAIL - Brigitte's melee weapon has an extended range, enabling her to strike multiple enemies with a single swing. REPAIR PACK - Brigitte throws a Repair Pack that can heal an ally. Any healing over that ally’s maximum health provides them with armor instead. WHIP SHOT - Brigitte throws her flail a long distance, dealing damage and knocking an enemy away from her. BARRIER SHIELD - Brigitte deploys a frontal energy barrier to absorb a limited amount of damage. SHIELD BASH - Once her Barrier Shield is deployed, Brigitte can dash forward to stun an enemy. RALLY (Ultimate) - Brigitte moves faster and provides all nearby allies with armor that lasts until it’s removed by damage. No exact word yet on when she will be ready for release on the main game, but I’d guess in about a week or two.
