Help with save editing in general

    I've been looking into modding Dead Island: Riptide but I can't seem to find a foothold in this whole modding thing. All the links I find are either really terrible tutorials or dead links. I can't seem to find a program that can edit save files and I don't know what I would even do with it if I could find one. I thought I got lucky and found some already edited save files and the PS3 seemed to know what it was, but it didn't show up in the game and now I'm bummed. I would really appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction to get me started. Thanks in advance.
