I have the HD PVR now and I was thinking about selling it and buying the HD PVR 2 since it is specifically for gaming, I can livestream with one button, and it is better quality. I found a BRAND new one will all cords, Total Media Extreme Disc and all for $136. Should I do it? Thx! I will get about 50-80 for my PVR.
to be honest. buy the elgato for a bit more. you will be much better off. pvr2 is good but if you can afford to buy the elgato it has a lot more to offer.
Elgato is 179.99 USD. you can find on amazon cheaper sometimes. If you want to pick it up a a local retailer. Apple Stores and Best Buy sell them. If you want to do a quality check goto my YouTube, All of my videos are made with Elgato. I'm also part of the Elgato Beta Testing team but I don't just talk it up for that reason. It offers features no other capture software can. And there's a lot more in the works [subscribe]GamrInsanity[/subscribe]
It has built in streaming options for both Twitch and YouTube, Live commentary will capturing. no power supply cable required like PVR2, you can stream and capture at the same time. And a few new features I can't discuss yet. They are really focusing on the streaming side of things right now because capturing is kinda maxed out. 30 Mbps 1080p video quality and you can stream up to 5000 kbps with live commentary all within the program. It has flashback recording so its like a dvr. When your not recording you can slide back to where you want and you can hit the record button so you can still get that moment.
I wish i knew about this before i bought my pvr2 awhile back. It sounds awesome. I like its usb powered too.
Hello Our HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition Plus is currently the only capture card on the market that allows hardware streaming, which means you can stream your gameplay via Twitch or UStream without having high PC usage as the PVR itself packs the punch instead of your PC. The HD PVR range also has the lowest PC minimum specs, which I think you will find handy for your computer. The HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition Plus is HDMI, 1080p via component OR HDMI. We also have new capture software, Hauppauge Capture, which allows you to record your voice whilst recording OR streaming. It also comes with SPDIF in the back allowing you to have 5.1 surround sound if you wish AND it comes with free MAC software, HDPVRCapture We thrive on excellent customer service and that’s why we have various local technical support offices around the globe dedicated to helping YOU! I never got Mac software with mine. I cant use it on my MAC. If i want to id have to buy a program i believe.
The HD PVR 2 GE Plus comes with FREE MAC software you can download it here: www.hdpvrcapture.com/geplus HD PVR 2 GE you do have to purchase MAC software separate.
It's not TRUE 1080p/i like HDMI is, component's sharpness and color depth look much worse than HDMIs. Also, who needs hardware streaming when it's built in to the software like the Elgatos'. As well as it makes for a bigger product, that isn't as travel friendly as the Elgato, since it's so small. Also lower spec requirement usually means it's worse. I want a product that demands high specs, cause that means it'll pack a punch. So OP, your best option is to go with the Elgato Game Capture. I have one now, after owning an HD PVR 2 for a while, and I can say it's much better all around. I'm one who likes amazing video quality, it's HD or nothing for me, and the Elgato delivers much better picture than a PVR 2.
