343 Industries has addressed fan concerns over the length of Halo 4's campaign, while talking up the studio's "substantial" DLC plans for the game. The studio released a Halo 4 Achievementslist earlier this week, revealing that the campaign will feature eight missions compared to Halo 3's 15, but 343 studio boss Frank O'Connor said this isn't something players should be worried about. "Number of missions has no bearing on the length of the campaign," he wrote on NeoGAF(via OXM). "It's a Halo sized campaign. PLUS [Spartan Ops] etc." 343 designer David Ellis chipped in to say that the Halo 4 Spartan Ops DLC season alone "is longer than" Halo 3: ODST. "Spartan Ops and Campaign are completely separate teams. As Frank mentioned earlier, the main campaign is substantial and will compare favorably with previous entries in the series." Each week, 343 will release five 10-15 minute long Spartan Ops missions as DLC. They'll essentially form a sequel to the main game, focusing on two Spartan squads, Crimson and Majestic, rather than furthering Master Chief's storyline. Earlier this month Microsoft revealed the full contents of the Halo 4 Limited Edition, as well as a DLC Pass for multiplayer maps. The publisher has confirmed a Halo 4 release date of November 6.
