Turn 10 Studios' upcoming Xbox One racer Forza Motorsports 5 will run at 60 frames per second in native 1080p resolution, the studio has confirmed. Speaking in a interview with gamespot about the pressure of developing a Forza Motorsport in time for the Xbox One launch later in 2013, Turn 10 Studios' content director John Wendel said, "I believe we're uniquely positioned to deliver on that challenge. We're a huge epic game that's going to be running at 1080p, 60fps on the next-gen console, so it's an incredible opportunity on one hand, but you have to be incredibly flexible and agile and self-aware on the other hand." Elsewhere, in an interview with the latest issue of UK gaming magazine Edge, Microsoft Studios vice president Phil Spencer said that Microsoft will not force its Xbox One developers to adhere to specific frame rates or resolutions. "It's important we give creators the best tools to create the best experience possible," said Spencer, "and I don't think that platform holders can dictate what the internal frame buffer size should be." "Forza 5 runs at 60 frames per second, but other people will make different trade-offs," said Spencer, adding that "resolution is not the thing that maximises beauty." 2011's Forza Motorsport 4 ran at 60fps in 720p, but last year's spin-off, Forza Horizon, dropped to a frame rate of 30fps.
