EA Sports has tweeted a teaser image suggesting that the announcement of an official 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil game may be imminent. The tweet simply reads: "The World Cup... #itsinyourhands", along with the following image: The presence of just the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 logos suggests the possible game may only be released on the previous generation of consoles. It's not clear either if it would be released as a standalone title or as expansion DLC for FIFA 14. EA revealed back in October that development on the World Cup game was already underway. EA has held the license for FIFA World Cup games since 1997 and the license for UEFA European Championship titles since 2000. Beginning with FIFA Road to World Cup 98, the publisher has released a FIFA or UEFA game every two years to coincide with the staging of the world's biggest football tournaments. These titles were all released as standalone retail games with the exception of EA's most recent tie-in product, UEFA Euro 2012, which launched as a digital FIFA 12 expansion pack. Source - CVG
