Were you itching for some zombie-killing?

You’ll have to resort to currently available titles, as Dying Light has just been delayed until next year. “We know you’ve been waiting on a Dying Light release date for quite some time now.

After careful consideration, we have decided to release our upcoming game in February 2015″ the developer Techland revealed in an exclusive interview with Eurogamer. Dying Light was originally set for a 2014 release, but no exact date was ever revealed.

Dying Light brings some interesting concepts to a genre that has been rather dull for a long time now. Of course, gameplay still revolves around killing zombies, that much remains unchanged. But zombies are influenced by the environment, the constantly changing day and night cycles influence difficulty, and the parkour free running does add a measure of diversity.

This is exactly why developer Techland decided to postpone the game’s launch. “When we started the development of Dying Light, we were committed to innovation. We wanted to give you a freedom of movement unprecedented in open world games. After many improvements and months of hard work, we have now come so close to realising our initial vision we feel we cannot stop before it is ready.”

This is not the first title that Techland delayed.

The company also delayed Hellraider recently, which would suggest that perhaps Techland bit off a bit more than it could chew.

Regardless, we’re glad to see that they are taking their time instead of publishing unpolished products. Dying Light will be released for the PS4, Xbox One and PC, but will no longer be released for the PS3 and Xbox 360, versions originally supported by the game.

The new release date is also vague, being summed up for 2015 and nothing else.
