Amazon has just posted gameplay and platform details for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, this year's Call of Duty outing from Sledgehammer Games.

As you may have read elsewhere, Advanced Warfare (not to be confused with Xbox 360 classic Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter) features powered EXO suits, which allow the wearer to leap, run and punch like the Incredible Hulk.

According to Amazon's blurb, these "[eliminate] the need for specialization", and deliver "enhanced player movement and verticality through boost jumps and grappling, covert cloaking abilities, and biomechanics that provide unparalleled strength, awareness, endurance, and speed". I'm probably still going to die all the time, but that's because I'm rubbish. Mileages will vary.

"With the advent of the exoskeleton and newly advanced armor and weaponry, every soldier commands tactical freedom in any terrain unlike ever before, fundamentally changing the way gamers play Call of Duty across all modes," the blurb continues. You can also expect a new class of firearm, "directed-energy weaponry". Rayguns, then?

The new game "harnesses the first three-year, all next-gen development cycle in franchise history", a slightly confusing choice of words given that it will also be available on Xbox 360. Here's a rundown of the plot.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare takes place in a plausible future in which technological progress and today's military practices have converged with powerful consequences. In this carefully researched and crafted vision of the future, Private Military Corporations (PMCs) have become the dominant armed forces for countless nations outsourcing their military needs, redrawing borders and rewriting the rules of war. And Jonathan Irons, the founder and president of the world's largest PMC - Atlas Corporation - is at the center of it all.

Irons - not to be confused with Jeremy Irons - is played by Kevin Spacey - not to be confused with Frank Underwood off House of Cards. See him in action below. The game's out worldwide on 4th November.
