Warner Bros. Interactive has filed a basic “Intent-to-Use” trademark with the USPTO, relating to Blacksite: Area 51, suggesting that the publisher may have future plans for the series. A horror science fiction first-person shooter, Blacksite: Area 51 was designed by the legendary Harvey Smith, who has also worked on System Shock, Deus Ex and Dishonored. However, it was panned at release, with Smith saying, "This project was so fucked up” and admitting that the game deserved its poor performance. At the time, Blacksite: Area 51 was owned by Midway, but in 2009 Warner Bros. Interactive purchased the majority of Midway’s assets, including the Blacksite IP. The trademark application may just be administrative housekeeping by Warner Bros., but it's also possible that it heralds the return of the series. The question is, does anyone want another Blacksite: Area 51 game? Source - X360A
Id like to see it return to next gen.The game was crap indeed but with modern day game engines i reckon this game could make a amazing comeback if made right this time.
