We've heard so much about Assassin's Creed: Origins lately that you'd think it couldn't get any worse for Ubisoft. That was before a Reddit user got his/her hands on the latest Game Informer. Care to venture a guess as to what their cover story is? Yep, Assassin's Creed: Origins.

The game is apparently set to launch on October 27 and will apparently include quite a lot of changes from the latest games in the series. One of the reasons for this is that they started developing it even before Assassin's Creed: Unity launched. One of the key differences between these games is the controls. There's no longer a button dedicated to running, as your speed will be determined by how much pressure you put on the analog stick. Another mechanic that differentiates it is that we won't have buttons for free-running upwards or downwards anymore. Kind of weird, considering we'll get to dive for treasures.

One of the series' most iconic mechanics has been changed significantly, eagle vision. You'll now get an eagle that scouts areas for you (who didn't see this one coming after Far Cry Primal, Watch Dogs 2 and Ghost Recon: Wildlands?) It'll highlight certain objects, but not enemies. You'd think this would make cluttered maps even busier, but that won't be the case. This game will actually use a compass similar to that of Fallout 4 / The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim / Horizon: Zero Dawn.

When a picture of a t-shirt with the character Bayek on it leaked a while back, many thought that he would be the game's main protagonist. Turns out, though, he won't be the only one. You'll also get to play as a second character that Ubisoft is keeping secret for the moment.

We've teased it before and the article confirms it: Origins will also have a brand new combat and AI system. Ubisoft once again claims that enemies won't wait for their turn, but instead will attack without waiting for you to get up, nor for other enemies to finish their attacks. This is, from what we hear, one of the reasons for the implementation of shields. As you fight, an adrenaline meter will fill up and can be used to perform an extraordinary attack.

You might want to save this for situations where you really need it, as your strength will depend on what level you are. That's right, the leveling system is back. So does the customisation to some degree. Changing your outfit won't change your stats this time around, but it's possible to upgrade your equipment or find better parts. This will be especially important in the new gladiator competitions. The ability to pick up arrows you've blocked might also come in handy here.

Finally, Ubisoft claims that the puzzles will be more challenging and have less focus on just using switches, so expect to spend some time in the pyramids and temples.

It'll be very interesting to see how Ubisoft addresses these leaks. Will they keep their collective mouth shut and wait for the conference on Monday, or at least confirm some of the details. Either way, we look forward to seeing the game in action when Ubisoft's E3 conference starts at 9pm BST / 10pm CEST on Monday.

Which details catch your eye the most?
