A new glitch on Assassins Creed IV Black Flag is causing gamers on Xbox One and PS4 next gen consoles to be locked out of the single player content of Ubisoft's Pirate based action adventure game.

The glitch is caused by the UPlay DRM element of the open-world game. It appears popular gamers will be affected this glitch as it is caused by the new friend list sizes on the new next gen consoles.

Xbox One and PS4 consoles both have a larger friends list capacity than the older gen consoles and anyone with over 100 friends on their friends list will be locked out of the game by the UPlay DRM feature.

Ubisoft had this to say about the UPlay restrictions:

"The Uplay Passport program was initiated as a means of giving customers full access and support for online multiplayer and features, along with exclusive content, bonuses and rewards. However, games today are blurring the line between offline and online, between what is “single player” and what is “multiplayer.” Based on that and on the feedback we received from you, we recognized that Passport is no longer the best approach for ensuring that all our customers have the best possible experience with all facets of our games."

Ubisoft are aware of the issue but are yet to release any information on a patch.
