    Downloads:
    J-Runner
NAND Flasher (If you don't have your original NAND dump.)
    Dash Launch 3.05

Extracting Your Current NAND Image (If You Don't Have Your Original NAND Dump)
    1. Download NAND Flasher and extract it.
    2. Place the folder on a FAT32 formatted USB drive.
    3. Plug the USB drive into your console and boot it up.
    4. Load the default.xex
    5. Press "Dump NAND/FLASH."
    6. Select where you want to save the dump. (Preferably to the USB drive...)
    7. While the process is running, please do not push any buttons.
    8. Wait for it to dump the NAND and verify it.
    9. Place the NAND dump on your computer.

Getting Your CPU Key (For Those Without It.)
    1. Boot your console with the eject button.
    2. Wait for Xell to load.
    3. If you have a newer Xell (Reloaded with blue screen) then wait for it to say "Your CPU key is...." Take a picture, or write it down. If you have an older Xell (black screen and fuzzy) combine fuseset lines 3 and 5 or 4 and 6 together. That's your CPU key.
    4. To verify the key, open J-Runner and select your NAND dump using the "..." button to the right of the "Source File" box.
    5. Combine or enter your CPU key and press "Re-Init."
    6. J-Runner will tell you if your key is correct or not. If it isn't keep trying.

    Finding Out Your Console Info
    1. Download and extract Dash Launch.
    2. Place it on a FAT 32 formatted USB drive.
    3. Plug that FAT 32 USB drive into your console and launch the XeX however you normally do.
    4. You will then be greeted with Dash Launch's launch.ini editor. We aren't going to be messing with that. We just want our console's info is all.
    5. In the lower right side of the screen, you will see some information. Such as Console, Hack, Kernel, etc.
    6. We only care about the console and hack. Copy the console and hack info down. We'll need that for later.

Creating the Image and Flashing It to Your NAND
    1. Open J-Runner.
    2. Click on the Dash Version drop down box.

    3. Click "Add Dash."

    4. Double click the check box for whatever dash kernel you want. (16202 is the newest as of writing.) Press "Add Dashes."

    5. Let J-Runner download all files needed. Keep an eye on the black box. It will say "Finished Checking Files" when it's done.
    6. Open your NAND dump in the " Source File" using the "..." button to select your NAND dump.

    7. Copy and paste your CPU key into the CPU key box.

    8. Select your console type. Press OK.

    9. Select the dash you wish to use. (16202 is the newest as of writing)
    10. Hack type. (JTAG or RGH) If you have a RGH console, select if it is a RGH or RGH 2 console. All slims are RGH 1. If you have a JTAG, select rather or not you have the AUD_Clamp wiring method by using the check box.

    11. Click "Create Image."

    12. When it's done, click "show working folder." That will bring up the folder with your updflash.bin file.

    13. Copy your updflash.bin file to the ROOT of a FAT32 formatted USB drive. If you have an older version of Xell, you will need Rawflash placed in the root of your USB. You will also have to name your updflash.bin to nandflash.bin.
    14. Plug your USB drive into your console and boot with the eject button.
    15. Wait until Xell loads your updflash.bin/nandflash.bin.
    16. Let Xell flash your NAND image. When it is done, it will tell you to shut your console down.
    17. Shut your console down and unplug the PSU from the console and wait about 30 seconds.
18 Plug your console back in, and boot it up.

Fixing the Avatar and Kinect Files
    Download:
16202 OFFICIAL update. (Do NOT run this update unless you are ON kernel 16202)

Updating the Avatar and Kinect Files
    1. After downloading that file above, extract it.
    2. Place the $SystemUpdate folder in the ROOT of a FAT 32 formatted USB drive. If you have already installed Dash Launch you will have to name it "$$ystemUpdate" without the quotes. Copy and paste that folder name. If you haven't installed Dash Launch, leave the folder's name alone.
    3. Make SURE you do not have your Ethernet cable, or wireless adapter plugged in.
    4. Plug the USB drive into your console and start the console up as normal.
    5. A dialog will come up, press "Yes."
6.Let the console update, and it will reboot.
    7. Once it comes back on, you will see your avatar and will be able to use the Kinect again.
    8. You're done! Install Dash Launch and carry on with your business!

No, it won't. I've updated God knows how many RGH/JTAG consoles' NANDs and Avatar/Kinect files and have never had an issue with an update formatting the HDD. I've heard about it, but i've never had it happen to me. Then again, i don't have anything connected to the console other than the NAND-X and PSU when updating. Which, it could be an issue with updating via software. Since i don't do that. xD I'm a hardware updater. Don't mess with the software updaters, as i don't think updating an active running machine is a smart idea personally.

Nonetheless, i'll add that in there! Thanks!!

That's why i added it. Just because it hasn't happened to me, doesn't mean it won't happen to someone else.

So does this mean systems that are updated from 15574 to new dash can be RGH'ed again?

Ahahaha!!! Mozzy, you've been gone for..... EVER bro!

Thanks guys. I try my best for XPG. ;)

Do you HAVE to update? Not now, but in the future you will. Most games released are already requiring 15574, so the next wave of games will require 16197. So, you'll have to update eventually. Best to just get it out the way whenever a new dash comes out.

It's the grey box that says NAND Type. When you load your image, it don't say NAND Type anymore. It's the grey box under "No. Reads."

I mean, this tutorial only covers updating your NAND (For now. Will update it later for the HDD updating.).

To my knowledge, the avatar items that worked before, will still work. All mine still show up, with no yellow ! next to them. So, you won't have to repatch the items, but you will have to run the Kinect/Avatar update for 16197 in order to see your avatar and use your Kinect again!

Very nice tutorial! You helped me get over my fears of upgrading and everything was successful. Just one suggestion, step 13 where it states older versions of Xell require rawflash; These also require the file to be renamed from updflash.bin to nandflash.bin because xenon.elf looks for that.
