Microsoft has detailed how the Twitch app will function on Xbox One, and revealed that live broadcasting won't be available before 2014.

Xbox Live Gold members will be able to view all content on Twitch from the Xbox One's launch, as well as make use of the console's Snap functionality for convenient viewing.

Snap allows users to do two things at once on the same screen, meaning you can watch Twitch whilst gaming, watching TV, or using another app. You'll also be able to jump to the app using the voice command, "Xbox, go to Twitch." The Xbox OneGuide will also provide insight into what's new and allow you keep track of your favourite channels.

Unique to the Xbox One app is the addition of achievements, with ten planned for launch. A couple of highlights include the Night Owl achievement, which challenges you to stay up watching Twitch all night, or the Standing Room Only achievement, which encourages you to join over 100,000 others watching a single stream.
Other achievements available at launch will reward you for spending a certain number of hours watching Twitch, or being one of only ten viewers watching a given channel to unlock the Hipster achieve.

While all of these things will be available at launch, unfortunately the ability to instantly broadcast gameplay from the Xbox One is being held back until Twitch and Microsoft are sure the experience will be a stable one. The feature is currently planned to launch in the first part of 2014.

The Xbox One launches globally on November 22... which is this Friday!
