If like me you were expecting Sony to unveil the PS4 Neo console at E3 2016 next week, you are going to be sorely disappointed. If you haven't heard about the new Sony PS4 Neo, which happens to be the game industries worst kept secret, where the heck have you been?

The PS4 Neo aka PS4K will not replace the PS4, it will be sold as a 'high end' more powerful version of the popular games console and of course, more expensive.
The PS4 Neo will have more processing power than the current PS4 console which it will achieve through faster clock speeds, 2.1 GHz vs 1.6 Ghz.
A faster console is nothing without a better graphics processing unit. The PS4 already has amazing graphics, however the PS4 Neo is set to have twice the graphics power of the current console, powered by an AMD GCN with 36 compute units running at a 911MHz.

The new PS4 will also have faster GDDR5 memory. The Neo will still have 8GB of RAM but will run at 218GB/s instead of 176GB/s.

Sony say that the new console won’t replace the old one, the 'High End' version will run along side the current console. Sony has told developers the PS4 Neo cannot have "exclusive" games of its own; all software must work on the older hardware. Games can have Neo-exclusive improvements such as higher-res textures, better resolution and improved frame rates, but they still have to run at an acceptable pace on the original console.

There has been no confirmed date for the PS4 Neo, but rumors point to the fourth quarter of 2016.
