Robert Wilson III, a 30-year-old, 8 year Police veteran, was shot and killed on March 5th, 2015, when 2 armed men entered a Philadelphia GameStop in an attempt to rob it. Wilson, on-duty and in uniform at the time, was in GameStop shopping for his 8-year-old son, when the two men entered the store with weapons.

The men believed a GameStop would be an easy target, with no guards or any form of security. When they entered they were most likely surprised to find Wilson in uniform there to stop them. A shootout then occurred, which resulted in over 50 rounds fired in less than 30 seconds. Wilson was shot multiple times at close range and died when one of the shots happened to hit him in the head.

Homicide Capt. Darrell Clark of Philadelphia Police Dept. stated, "The officer was a hero and a warrior--he fought until the very, very end--firing at both of them."

Carlton Hipps (30) and Ramone Williams (26), the suspected shooters at the time, have been caught and charged with first degree murder as well as attempted murder for attacking Wilson's partner. One of the suspects was on parole, but they both had a past record with the Police as well.

There's details of a trust fund for Wilson's family, including his 8-year-old son, here: http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/Trust-Fund-for-Family-of-Officer-Robert-Wilson-Philadelphia-Slain-295413061.html
