The month of March is likely to be the busiest month for games for the foreseeable future. Expect Tomb Raider and SimCity to kick us off, followed by God of War and Gears of War prequels, and ending with the likes of BioShock Infinite and Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.

    Tomb Raider

    Release date: March 5 (worldwide)
    Platforms: Xbox 360, PS3, PC

Tomb Raider is a reboot of the classic series, where Lara Croft finds herself shipwrecked on a hostile island in an origin story that shapes her into the heroine seen in the original games. As well as a single-player campaign it also features an extensive multiplayer suite.

    SimCity

    Release date: March
    Platforms: PC (Mac after launch)

The new SimCity is being developed by original creators Maxis using its new proprietary GlassBox Engine. Requiring a constant internet connection to play, players will interact with nearby player cities to share resources and influence a global economy.

StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm

    Release date: March 12 (worldwide)
    Platforms: PC, Mac

Heart of the Swarm is the second of three StarCraft II instalments and follows on from Wings of Liberty. The expansion will feature a host of new units and additional gameplay mechanics.

Players will have the option to choose between sub-species of Zerg units and customise their powers through the swarm adaptation feature.

    God of War: Ascension

Release date: March 15 (Europe), March 12 (North America)
    Platforms: PS3

God of War: Ascension will take place before the events of the original trilogy, presenting a more human side of protagonist Kratos, set in a time before his desire for vengeance consumed him.

It will be the first entry in the series to include multiplayer support, enabling up to eight players to compete in a variety of game modes and customise their characters.

    Gears of War: Judgment

Release date: March 22 (Europe), March 19 (North America)
    Platforms: Xbox 360

Gears of War: Judgment focuses on the trial of Baird and the rest of Kilo Squad, who are accused of desertion, cowardice, trespassing, theft of experimental military tech and treason.

It will feature enhanced controls and an adaptable difficulty level similar to that of Left 4 Dead, which means that no two campaign runs will be the same.

    Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate

Release date: March 22 (Europe), March 19 (North America)
    Platforms: Wii U, 3DS

An expanded version of Wii role-playing adventure Monster Hunter Tri, it will feature cross-platform online play and progress sharing between both the Wii U and 3DS versions.

The Wii U version has HD visuals, while the 3DS edition will offer local four-player co-op, as well as StreetPass functionality to share a hunter's information.

    BioShock Infinite

    Release date: March 26 (worldwide)
    Platforms: Xbox 360, PS3, PC

BioShock Infinite is the spiritual successor to 2007's acclaimed adventure BioShock, and was recently named one of Digital Spy readers' most anticipated games of 2013. Irrational Games studio head Ken Levine recently hyped the game's ending, saying it's "nothing you've actually experienced in a video game before".

    Luigi Mansion: Dark Moon

Release date: March 29 (Europe), March 24 (North America)
    Platforms: 3DS

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon is the Nintendo 3DS follow-up to the GameCube launch title. The game will feature multiple mansions for Luigi to explore, filled with ghosts to capture and puzzles that will unlock new rooms. It will also offer both local and online multiplayer.

    LEGO City: Undercover

Release date: March 29 (Europe), March 18 (North America)
    Platforms: Wii U, 3DS

LEGO City is an open-world environment loosely based on San Francisco. Lead character Chase McCain will have access to countless disguises, as well as a wide variety of land and air vehicles, in his pursuit of the bad guys.

The Wii U GamePad will act as a communicator to talk to other characters, a scanner to search for clues and a sat nav for finding your way around the city.

    The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct

Release date: March 29 (Europe), March 26 (North America)
    Platforms: Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii U

The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is a survival stealth-action game with light management elements, following brothers Daryl and Merle before the events of the AMC television series.

The Wii U version will make use of the GamePad's touchscreen to manage inventory.
