Disk Drive help

    so i have an old xbox 2-3 years the drive is wearing out or parts are broken because it takes a few pushes of the eject button to open i was wondering if i take the pcb off the drive and stuck it on another disk drive would the cd key be read the same or would i need to get the tools to switch the cd key to the new drive?

    Sounds like you will need to re-lube the gears of the drive. If that doesn't work then a full fledged pot-tweak.

    Manually eject the dvd drive, and then take the elastic band (belt) that the rotors are bound with. and boil the kettle and pop the belt in there for a few minutes (crazy I know, but it "re-lubes" the belt and is the fix of the most common cases of the stuck disc drive problem.

    While you have it open, take a Q-tip and gently rub the laser with isopropyl rubbing alcohol (Not needed, but always good to have the drive clean)
