EA has confirmed that the next installment in the Battlefield series, Battlefield 5, will be released in the last quarter of 2016, given previous Battlefield 3 and 4 most likely both launched in October, we would expect Battlefield 5 to follow trend.

Developers at DICE are currently working on Battlefield 5, but they are also still working on Battlefield 4 creating new content for the game as well as working on patches. DICE has two offices: the main office in Stockholm, with another in Los Angeles, which has worked on a lot of the BF4 updates.

As well Battlefield 4 and 5, a vast amount of Dice developers are also working on a Star Wars Battlefront title, which is speculated to be released later this year along with the upcoming Hardline title. Let's hope that Dice are not over stretching their resources and learned a lesson from the botched BF4 release which has had more patches than any game to date.

Despite the upcoming Battlefield Hardline being based on cops-and-robbers, Battlefield 5 will be military-themed according to EA CFO Blake Jorgensen.

It is speculated that Battlefield 5 will be a 'next-gen-only' game, so far neither EA or DICE have commented on whether or not they are working on PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.
