Xbox One was outsold by PlayStation 4 in the US during the month of September, although there was an overall slump in year-on-year console sales across the board. That’s according to the latest NPD report. In response, Microsoft's corporate VP of marketing, Mike Nichols, pointed towards Xbox One’s increased momentum and superior holiday period exclusives."Xbox One continued to see strong momentum in September on the heels of Forza Motorsport 6 and EA Sports FIFA 16, with solid year-over-year growth in console sales and strong engagement on Xbox Live,” said Nichols."This holiday Xbox One owners will enjoy the greatest games lineup in the industry and in Xbox history, led by Halo 5: Guardians, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Fallout 4, Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Star Wars Battlefront, and the ability to play Xbox 360 games.”“Xbox One owners will have all this on the fastest, most social Xbox experience ever and with advanced hardware such as the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller. Xbox fans and first-time console buyers can look forward to an epic holiday!"Although overall consoles sales are down compared to last year, sales in September were up on August 2015, indicating a ramp up towards the holiday period. That year-on-year slump is blamed on Destiny, which caused a healthy spike in console sales when it launched last September. In addition to this, the US software charts for September were also released.
