Microsoft will provide refunds to Xbox Live Gold subscribers who wish to go with the Silver package now that entertainment apps are no longer behind a paywall. The refund is available to anyone who wishes to cancel their sub come June when the paywall lifts on Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Subscribers have August 31, 2014 to ask for a refund. “Once the Xbox One and Xbox 360 system updates become available in June, Xbox Live Gold members who purchased a paid membership before that day can cancel and receive a pro-rata refund of any unused remaining days between the date of cancellation and the date their paid Gold membership ends,” reads the updated FAQ. “Cancellation and pro-rata refund requests require six to eight weeks for processing. Free or trial Gold memberships are not eligible for a refund.” A new infographic was posted on the Xbox Wire blog regarding the new Xbox Live updates and outlines the new refund service. Microsoft announced yesterday alongside the Kinect-less Xbox One bundle that entertainment apps will be available for all Xbox 360 and Xbox One owners starting in June. Ahh makes sense. That would be tear-braking coming home wanting to play your xbox, next thing it says is xbox live membership reverting to silver. I would have a tantrum.
