I know there aren't very many titles out for XBOX One yet, so this conversation might be a tad premature; but I'm just wondering, whatever happened to 2-Player, Split-screen, Story progression driven, Offline campaigns??

My wife & I used to play games like Halo, Gears of War and few others and really enjoyed them. We progressed through the story-driven campaigns together on one Console, in split-screen mode. That was the most fun we ever had gaming! Characters, levels, a real story, real progression.

When XBOX One came out; we sold our XBOX 360 and bought two XBOX One's. We did this so we could play Online Multiplayer with each other.

Online multiplayer is fine & enjoyable; but it severely lacks the depth & attachment of a story progression driven campaign. You can come back to it every few days, pick up where you left of & move forward.

So far pretty much every title has disappointed us in that area. Titanfall is a big mash-up. Levels load randomly even when you play Campaign. There's really no story. You're just thrown into the fight with a bunch of other people you don't know - there's no character or sentiment. Just keep dying & respawning. It's fun but temporarily only.

COD Ghosts doesn't seem to have this sort of Campaign either; nor does AC. Both Forza 5 & Plants vs. Zombies have a very weak Split-screen mode; otherwise it's the same - you jump in with a whole bunch of other people we really don't wanna play with.

Whatever happened to the Gears of War kind of story progression driven, 2 player, split screen campaigns? The closest we got to that sort of scenario was Dead Rising 3.

Am I missing something? Are there titles I'm not aware of? Are they doing away with that? Or do we just need to wait?

Just wanted to get input from someone who might know more then I do.

    Thanks.
