Rainbow Six Siege Patch v2.2 Arrives Tentatively on PC 1st Mar.; Consoles 2nd Mar

Patch v2.2 arrives this week for Rainbow Six Siege, and with it comes a slew of cheating counter measures as well as exploit fixes as the team prepares for the ESL Rainbow Six Pro League. The patch notes are grouped into separate categories — Community Health, General Tweaks and Improvements, Main Bug Fixes, and finally an overall status update on IP Protection.

General improvements were made across the board, however the biggest, and probably the most influential changes came in the form of spawn protection and adjustment. Several of the spawn traps and exploits that have been expressed on the official forums in recent weeks have been either removed or updated in a way that they cannot be used as exploits anymore. This promotes not only the overall community health of the title but also creates a more competitive environment since teammates are not dieing as soon as they spawn or shortly there after.

Another big change was the addition of a kill camera in Ranked mode. The team was aware that by design, many of the users playing the game, especially on Ranked, preferred not to have a kill camera, however it had come to their attention that certain high-rank matches on Ranked may have been ruined by cheaters and exploiters. With that being said, the team decided to implement the kill camera going forward. This will help reduce ‘witch hunting’ or cheating accusations as well as deter current or future abusers from doing so. It also helps the Ubisoft Support teams narrow down which users may in fact be cheating in Ranked by giving them the option to replay deaths and how they occurred with console and PC DVR functions.

Some of these changes and updates should also be add to the call of duty series. Especially the Ip protection.
