Payday 2 rights a microtransaction wrong

The controversial Payday 2 drill DLC can now be unlocked by players in loot drops, developer Overkill has confirmed in new patch notes.
The drill allows players to open safes to access random loot drops, which include a range of weapon skins that change the characteristics of each gun. The issue, however, was that the drill cost players £1.60 to use, which many considered a pay-to-win mechanic.

The drill can now be picked up in-game via drops, but remains available to purchase too.
"Added Drills to the Card Loot Drop reward table," reads the game's latest patch notes. "Players can now be rewarded with Drills that can open Safes after successfully completing a heist."
Although a step in the right direction, players remain unhappy about the weapon skin stat boosts, with many calling for the feature to be removed altogether.
