Whether you were a pro or just an amateur, chances are you have played or seen Guitar Hero once in your life. The game, published by Red Octane and Harmonix in 2005, was a huge hit. It was by far one of my favorite childhood memories gaming wise, as it was the only video game out at the time in which you had a physical guitar to play notes on. Being that popular doesn't go unnoticed, as other companies soon realized the hit game and were quick to release spin offs, the most popular being Rock Band. If you played Rock Band, Guitar Hero, or any other similar games, you'll be happy to know that next gen will not be left out. According to Kotaku, two close sources have announced that Activision is working on a new Guitar Hero. They say that it will be announced at E3 in June and released sometime during 2015. Rather than basically porting an old Guitar Hero game over to next gen, they're taking a slightly different approach at the cartoon guitar game. To utilize the next gen's capacity, the company is taking a more realistic approach to the game. What this could possibly mean is up to the community to speculate. IGN reached out to Activision for a comment and received the following response: "We don't comment on rumor or speculation, but have previously said, that as one of the most beloved entertainment franchises, we would only bring Guitar Hero back if we developed the right innovations to usher the franchise into the new generation of gaming." Could this mean that they're thinking about adding improvements to the guitar or even possibly using the Kinect camera for bonus dance points? Maybe they're adding the ability to connect more guitars than previously allowed on PS2/PS3/Xbox 360.
