Publisher EA has released its latest financial report, revealing that a new Titanfall “experience” is on the way this year, confirming a new Battlefield for 2016, suggesting Mass Effect Andromeda may slip to 2017, and discussing Star Wars Battlefront’s sales. The majority of the info comes from a quote contained in the financial report, which outlines the publisher’s year ahead. Directed at stockholders, these kinds of quotes are designed to give everyone confidence in the company’s year ahead.“In Q1, we’ll begin with the creative and innovative Mirror’s Edge Catalyst from DICE launching in May,” said the publisher. “A great line-up of EA Sports titles are in development for next year, and we look forward to sharing more about these new experiences in the months ahead.”“An all-new Battlefield game from DICE will arrive in time for the holidays, we’re excited to have a new Titanfall experience coming from our friends at Respawn – and of course, Mass Effect Andromeda from the team at BioWare will launch later in the fiscal year.”EA’s financial year runs from April 1st 2016 until March 31 2017, so the mention of Mass Effect Andromeda launching “later in the fiscal year” could mean that we won’t get our hands on BioWare’s sci-fi RPG until after Christmas. We very much hope that's not the case. The Titanfall news is heartening, however. It’s been a couple of years since Respawn offered up its fun mechs and pilots shooter, so the developer has had a decent chunk of time to iterate on an entertaining formula. Crucially, we expect the sequel will be new-gen only too. Fingers crossed Respawn comes up with something great.Elsewhere in EA’s financial report, the publisher revealed that 13 million copies of Star Wars Battlefront were shipped to retailers. That’s more than was expected. EA said that the licensed game sold more at retail than digital, something it attributed to the Christmas gift market. Whatever way you cut it, it looks like Battlefront outstripped its sales target of 13 million, despite those early GameStop grumbles.
