The addition of Villager and Wii Fit Trainer to ‘Super Smash Bros’ may be questionable for some fans of the series. Masahiro Sakurai explains adding the two oddball fighters to Smash 4 to Nintendo Dream in an interview. There are new characters in Smash 4 that fit the mold very well like Mega Man. The ‘Blue Bomber’ is built for combat, and he has also appeared in the ‘Marvel Vs. Capcom’ series. Villager is from the community simulation game ‘Animal Crossing’, and Wii Fit Trainer is from ‘Wii Fit’, two games where fighting is non-existent.
Here’s Sakurai’s response for adding Villager and Wii Fit Trainer to ‘Super Smash Bros’.
Villager and Wii Fit Trainer certainly do add variation to ‘Super Smash Bros’, and the variation of the party brawler is already through the roof. There’s some fun to be had by shooting a slingshot at Mario’s mustache, or knocking Marth out of the arena with a Warrior yoga pose. They can be seen as not so serious fighters, while still being worthy combatants in Smash 4.

What’s your thoughts on Masahiro Sakurai’s addition of Villager and Wii Fit Trainer to ‘Super Smash Bros’? Do you think they should’ve made room for someone like Lucas or Ice Climbers instead?
