Earlier tonight Lizard Squad accepted Machinima's challenge to attack one major website. Turns out however, that it was on their own.
The challenge was issued in the following video towards the end, specifically starting at 4:06 if you want to hear only the challenge. Back up a little further if you would like to know what they were talking about.

Some of you may be skeptical about whether or not all this is true, or if it's Machinima playing a game. It's not, I've been hanging around the Lizard Squad IRC tonight and attempting to get confirmation. This is in fact true. Needless to say, Machinima messed with the wrong people. They do not take these challenges lightly.

So what exactly has Lizard Squad done? Not only have they defaced the Machinima website, click here to see it, but they now have complete control over the domain. A picture, posted below, was tweeted from a member of Lizard Squad who was just released from prison today, according to Lizard Squad's post here, who goes under the alias of chF. We can only assume he played a bigger role in this hacking since it was done within hours of him getting out of jail, and some statements from some anonymous IRC chatters.
The domain is now completely under the control of Lizard Squad, this can be proved by doing a simple WhoIs on the domain. Click here for a current WhoIs search or look below at the screenshot.

There's more to this story though, I got an interview/conversation with the person responsible for this attack. He goes under the alias "anti". He graciously answered some of my questions despite him currently being busy.
Here is the following questions and answers from this conversation.

Q: Why Machinima? You could've chose anyone. Is it because they issued the challenge?
A: Yes. It's going to be funny if they get mad at us for taking action.

Q: Was there anything you guys had to do to prep the taking of the domain?
A: No, just stole their domain. It was that simple. It took about 10 minutes.

Q: How did you accomplish this?
A: The domain was stolen by social engineering the registrar.

Q: Is there anything they could've done to prevent this?
A: More verification at the registrar on identities.

Those are the main things. We continued to talk about general information with Lizard Squad and simple questions like this..
Q: So what are your plans for the future? Do you have any targets in mind?
A: Plans for the future...not really sure, have some rough ideas although we never really discuss the future. In fact we hardly ever discuss targets. Someone just says in IRC, "Lets hit x." Then if agree, its chosen and the people who run the twitter take it from there.

I didn't want to take up much more of his time because he is a busy person but I figured I would share this much with you all.

I have some questions for you all though...
Do you think the guys in the video will be held responsible for this because they encouraged it?
What do you think Machinima's response will be to this?
How do you think Machinima will get their domain back?
Do you think Lizard Squad will attack them again?
