So I've had a modded xbox for a while. A guy did it for me a few years back, but I don't know what he did. I've done some reading and saw that he flashed it. This xbox is starting to go bad so I bought another, and plan to use this one online. Am I able to just replace the drive in the new xbox with the drive from the old xbox, or do I need to flash the new one? Thanks for the help guys, and sorry for any dumb questions I may have asked.
Each console has a unique DVD key, if you wanted to put a drive from one console in another you'd have to flash the DVD key with the one for that console. The DVD key can be retrieved from the DVD drive or through RGH/Jtaging the console.
Thanks on that bit, guys. Now, how do I find out what he flashed it with? He's no longer contactable for me to ask. Is there a way to find this out?
That's what I'm doing. I saw that there's a lot of different ways to flash the drives, and am trying to find out if there's a way to tell which one was used on the xbox.
First off, specify what console it is. Phat or Slim? Also tell me what the manufacture date is. If it's a PHAT console, do as smoker said and peer through the oval shape and look at the colour of the wires that are inside. Blank: Hitachi Red: Saumsung White: BENQ Yellow: Liteon If it's a Slim console, you'll need to open it, and tell me the information on the sticker. EDIT: Feral beat me to it
